How do we reduce the high political tensions in America? How do we reduce the rage the two sides feel towards one another?
The left is afraid Trump is going to be a dictator. The left thinks the right has evil policies against immigrants and LGBTQ people. The left thinks the right is fascist.
The right is afraid the left will take away their right to bear arms and then their other rights like the freedom of speech and their liberties to live their life as they see fit. The right thinks the left is communist.
Either side that gains political power uses that government power against the other side. The fear of each side is very real because government power destroys the lives of people they care about.
So what can we do to de-escalate this high stakes battle?
Shrink the government, shrink the government’s power to harm, shrink the hammer each side can use against the other.
America’s founder’s plan was brilliant- a small government cannot harm the rights and freedoms of its people. A small government cannot take away your right to bear arms or your right to have surgery to try to change genders. A small government cannot take your money and spend it on global military expeditions or on welfare queens.
If the other side gains power, they cannot end democracy or crush your religious freedoms.
The only way to de-escalate the political tensions in America is to reduce the high stakes of who controls the government. Limit the government to the minimum possible powers so it cannot be used against you.
