For the sake of discussion, let’s say that everything Jon Stewart said is true. What is it that gave the President such power? Why is the federal government so huge and powerful that it can do whatever it pleases without checks and balances anymore? The gigantic cancer that is the federal government has been abusing conservatives for a long time, hopefully liberals also now see the systemic problem that they are on the receiving end of it. How do we shrink the whole government back down so the people again can have rights and freedoms?
Jon Stewart said America is a constitutional republic. It is also a system where there is clear separation between the federal government and states. The states were intended to be much more powerful than the central federal government. Obviously the federal government is now far more powerful than the states. How do we return power to the states?
