The government has become so massive and powerful that controlling it is now a matter of life and death for people on both the right and left. This has happened many times before in history and usually ends in a dictatorship. If the left wins, socialism quickly turns to communism which then collapses into dictatorship like in Russia or North Korea or Venezuela. If the right wins, you get populist dictators.
The solution for both the right and left is to shrink the government until we the people have our rights and liberties back again and don’t have to worry about the other side controlling the government against us.
