I just finished reading “Carrion Comfort” by Dan Simmons today. I really enjoyed it! This was a great recommendation from my rock climbing friend Max. It’s a fascinating horror story built around essentially a cabal of mind control vampires. The concept sounds cheesy, but the execution was really good. Secret to Happiness
I try to track my happiness along with a number of variables every single day in my spreadsheet. So far, I have found a few things that can dramatically improve my daily mood:
- Most important is social contact. I have a habit now of calling either a family member or friend both on my way to work and my way home.
Depression / Gratitude

I have decided to simplify my blog greatly. I have moved blog.joelx.com directly onto joelx.com and moved the old seo / web design site to http://seo.joelx.com/. Still working to get the proper 301 redirects in place with Aman. I also changed to a super simple theme that is pretty minimalist and also activated AMP for mobile pages.
