Most religions have two central commands to their followers that also coincide with the central goals of biological life:
- Have as many children as possible.
- Spread yourselves around geographically.
Religion causes people to do evil things to one another and limits the progress of humanity in many ways, but it has survived in part by espousing the central commands above. ‚
Is religion a necessary tool for the survival of biological life?
It’s not necessary for the survival of biological life. Every species save humans thrives without it. But it was and is often helpful to humans. It gives them guidance, a road to follow, something to cling to, et cetera.
God didn’t create humans. Humans created God.
Good points, both of you.
I find it hard to believe that religion has been “helpful” to humans. In my opinion it has done more damage to the progress and advancement of the human race than anything else. It creates borders and boundaries and pushes people further away from each other. Religious people have a framework they need to operate within and anyone who doesn’t fit within that framework is automatically dismissed. Religion closes your mind and makes you look at life from an unrealistic and unnatural perspective. My most loyal and honest friends have been atheists and in some cases agnostics. In my opinion religious people know two things very well, how to lie and then make people believe their lie.
My husband and i were absolutely satisfied when Louis could do his researching through the precious recommendations he was given out of the web page. It’s not at all simplistic just to continually be giving out guidance which usually other folks might have been trying to sell. And we also remember we now have the website owner to give thanks to because of that. All of the illustrations you have made, the easy web site navigation, the friendships you will assist to engender – it’s everything awesome, and it’s making our son in addition to the family know that this issue is thrilling, and that is particularly serious. Thank you for all!
