Government is the number one threat to rights and freedoms of citizens… so the smaller the government is, the better. It’s much easier to fight back against bad business (just don’t buy from them or sue them or move a bit further away) than against bad government. For example, I am about to fight a big bad business (their new leadership sucks and cut the partner commissions arbitrarily, so I will sue). But if the government does bad stuff and you try to fight back, at best they ignore you. At worst, they put you in prison or kill you. If I don’t pay a big business, I may have a civil lawsuit. If I don’t pay the government, even for stupid ridiculous stuff, I will end up in a concrete 10′ x 10′ box and never see the sunshine again. Everyone likes to vote for more benefits for themselves, which results in higher taxes. I would like to see constitutionally limited taxes which would also limit government size.
