Terrible tragedies keep happening because of easy access to guns. School shootings, the Vegas massacre, church shootings, and more. Multiple innocents dead each time.
So why do I support continued easy access to guns?
Certainly not for hunters, gun collectors, or hobby shooters.
I support easy access to guns for everyone because of what we have seen happen in Russia where an absolute dictator has risen to power. Easy access to guns would have led to that dictator being assassinated. Instead that dictator has murdered orders of magnitude more people than all of the dead from all of the mass shootings in the United States… In Russia alone. Then when you see what he did to Ukraine, murdering tens of thousands of innocents and destroying an entire nation, universal gun ownership makes a lot of sense.
Gun ownership leads to easily being able to kill others. The downside is the US homicide rate is far higher than almost any other nation. The upside is it is harder to enslave Americans or to invade here than anywhere else.
Freedom is more important than “security”.
