A question for my liberal friends: do you think President Trump’s use of power has gone too far? Is he infringing on the rights of many Americans? If so, keep in mind that it is the enormous expansion of government power has happened under liberals that has enabled President Trump to do what he is doing. Wouldn’t it be nice to have a smaller government with less power to infringe on your rights?
A cautionary note to conservative friends: gloating about the war on woke is making many liberals and independents very angry. The next election cycle is likely to boomerang power back to the liberals. If the powers of government continue to expand, we could see further losses in our second amendment rights, over taxation, and personal freedoms. It is far better to shrink government power than to use government power against the other side.
My point here is larger – Everyone, including both political parties and everyone else, should consider using government power less. When government power is used (or abused) to try to solve problems, it is usually ineffective and often disastrous. People on the left see they can use the government power of taxation as a way to “get even” with rich people or to get money to solve problems… but remember, the American revolution was started due to overtaxation. People on the right see the government power to control certain behaviors as a way to keep people in line. I am guessing most people on both sides would be much happier if the government was much smaller and did not have the power to damage their lives.
I am very concerned that the swings left and right are getting more extreme. Trump’s first administration went significantly to the right, Biden’s administration went further left than any before it, and now Trump’s administration is probably further right than any before it. These swings are yanking our whole country around and causing big upsets. Wouldn’t it be better to shrink the government way down so it could not do the crazy stuff it is doing no matter who is in power?
