Happenings

Attempted to climb to McClellan’s Butte past Mt. Si on I-90E Saturday. Failed due to lack of equipment and realization that climbing steep ice alone may not be smart.

Sunday went on a bike ride with my brother from Orting to Puyallup. Visited the White family and ate good food at their BBQ. Rode back to Orting.… read more “Happenings”

Work

The word “work” has so many different meanings to different people that it is useless without context. For me, work has metamorphosised from a damnation into an exultation. For the young Joel, work implied soul-crushing misery mostly because people forced me to do tasks that had no meaning to me: filling out forms at school, weeding gardens that would be full of weeds again two weeks later, and other silly tasks.… read more “Work”

Wolverine, Sex Drive, Bigfoot

Tonight I saw Wolverine: It’s a completely garbage movie.‚  The last couple of weeks my sex drive has been MIA.‚  Not sure what happened to it.‚  Maybe diet, lifestyle, time of year, or something completely different.‚  Driving home on I-90 my speed kept varying wildly between way too fast and normal speed.‚  On one of my normal speed sections I was passed by an SUV going much faster than me followed by a cop.‚ … read more “Wolverine, Sex Drive, Bigfoot”

Monday Morning Monster

Came into work this morning feeling pretty good until I went to talk to a coworker about getting our banking details for a new merchant services account and got my head bit off. ‚ Didn’t make any sense: I have never really interacted with this person before and I was polite. ‚ Maybe her hubby divorced her or her cat died or she got abused as a child and she now feels the need to spread her misery.

Weeds: Good Show

After deciding not to go out tonight, I watched Borat again while doing laundry.‚  Sometimes my life isn’t that exciting.‚  But I did watch the first couple of episodes of Weeds which I thoroughly enjoyed.‚  Reminds me very much of American Beauty.

Factoria

Although it suffers from possibly one of the worst name choices in the history of towns, Factoria doesn’t seem to be so bad.‚  Factoria is a mere 10 minute drive from downtown Seattle and maybe 5 minutes from downtown Bellevue.‚  Today I went on a run during lunchtime and got a more intimate look at the area and it’s surroundings.‚ … read more “Factoria”

Opposites Attract

Saturday and Sunday, I had the pleasure of spending time with my cousin Jimmy.‚  He is a freshman at UW, but had not yet spent a weekend in Seattle (he goes home every time).‚  I have been trying to convince him to stay up for months, so finally I bribed him by telling him I would bring his computer he forgot at home up to him and he agreed.‚ … read more “Opposites Attract”

Factoria Offices

My company has now moved over to Factoria and today was my first day in the new offices.‚  The offices are nice, with plenty of room for employees and their stuff.‚  Unfortunately, whoever planned the seating arrangements put me far away from the person I work with the most.‚  My seat is also in the worst spot- right by the entrance and everyone stares at me and my screen as they walk in or out.‚ … read more “Factoria Offices”
