Any biology textbook we read growing up hammered the point home that the purpose of life for every living creature is reproduction. Do you think humans are a magic exception here?
Sure, children are hard work and require sacrifices. They keep you up at night sometimes and you don’t have as much time for yourself anymore.
But anything you do with your children is better than anything you do without your children. Joy and satisfaction in life come from raising good kids.
Your only chance at eternity is having children. They are a piece of you that carries forward. None of your other achievements in life matter.
Having children will require you to make big life changes, including dropping substance abuse of all kinds. I would argue you even should drop caffeine. You will probably need to change your career to something that makes less and gives you more time with kids. But it will all be worth it.
