The Acting Fallacy

People who are born in Los Angeles have a funny joke whenever they hear someone is an actor here. The conversation goes like this:

Native: So what do you do for a living?

Actor: I am an actor.

Native: Ah, so you wait tables.

The Importance of Resumes

Many people seem to neglect their resumes or think that they aren’t very important. Those people have never been recruiters before. Recruiters job is not to find reasons to say yes, but instead to find reasons to say no. Mistakes on a resume are an easy way for me to say no to a candidate. If you have misspellings, grammatical errors, unexplained holes in the years you worked, or a resume not targeted at the job you are applying for I will likely throw your application out and move on to the next candidate.

Buying Puts on TripAdvisor

I like TripAdvisor as a company, but it is massively overpriced right now so I bought a bunch of puts on it betting that it will go down in price. The company has a ridiculous price to sales ratio of 13. Completely indefensible. A couple of bad earnings reports and this company will be in the gutter.
