I purchased my Canon Powershot A540 6MP digital camera about nine months ago and have been pretty happy with it’s performance. The Canon Powershot A540 is a 6 megapixel camera with 4x optical zoom. The features on the digital camera are intuitive and easy to use. There is a scroll wheel on top of the Powershot A540 for selecting camera mode (pictures, auto focus, person, landscape, night, movie, etc.) The camera has a small 2.5 inch screen on the back capable of showing your pictures or playing movies, along with various simple editing and viewing functionalities.
The biggest problem that I have had with my Canon Powershot A540 is the fact that it is unpredictable in how long it takes between the time you push the picture taking button and when the picture actually gets taken. Also, the software takes several long seconds between digital photos to load, so it is impossible to rapidly take action photos of say, a sporting event.
The battery life on the Canon Powershot A540 6MP digital camera is pretty solid if you use fresh batteries instead of rechargeable ones. I purchased the rechargeable batteries for the A540 digital camera, but they only hold a charge for half an hour of on time and even when the camera is turned off the rechargeable batteries drain quiuckly. I just went to Costco and purchased a giant pack of double A batteries for use in my Canon Powershot A540 digital camera and have not had any problems since.
The Canon Powershot A540 is now an older model digital camera, but it is very inexpensive. I strongly recommend it if you are working on a budget, but if you have extra money I would buy a higher end digital camera.
