Climbed Mount Si again today with Adam Leong. First time climbing it in the winter. Temperatures were well below freezing, especially close to the top. Probably about 15 degrees. I wore a shirt and two hoodies, jeans and a pair of shorts underneath, but I was still cold. I did some work and added some features to this site:

• “Where’s Joel? page linked to at the top horizontal navigation bar.  This feature uses Google Latitude to display where I am physically located by tracking my iPhone’s GPS.
• “Site Traffic” on the right hand side menu bar to the right of the “Topics” column.  This shows the how many unique visitors have come to my site in the last 30 days according to Google Analytics.

A man killed 4 Lakewood cops yesterday and apparently tried to hide out at his house in Leschi afterwards, just a few blocks away from Taras house. Police surrounded the house and raided it, but the killer wasn’t there. They are currently searching the surrounding area.

As a fresh LA transplant, I have discovered Seattles traffic is much worse than the traffic in LA. Los Angeles is just a much larger city so it still takes longer to get somewhere. But to travel 2 miles through Seattle takes two or three times as long as travelling 2 miles in LA does.

Check out the crazy video below of a kite surfer jumping a pier. Looks incredibly dangerous, but kind of makes me want to take up the sport. Look how high he goes!

A large group of my friends and I are going to Las Vegas for New Years Eve. We will be staying at the Sahara on December 31st and January 1st. I read the book Blindside by Michael Lewis on the plane ride from Los Angeles to Seattle today. Blindside is the real life tale of Michael Oher coming up out of poverty in Memphis to become a big time NFL left tackle. I thought the book was fairly well-written and whipped through it quickly. The author Michael Lewis was too close to his subject matter though and he tried to cram his worldview down the readers necks.… read more “Blindside Book Review”

VD is coming to pick me up from sea-tac through rush hour traffic, then going to get food and beer. Going to be fun!

I have had nothing to eat today since this morning. Ravenous doesn’t even begin to describe my appetite. The people walking around me look like tasty lumps of meat. Visions of baby tartare, ab jerky and human filet mignon are starting to appear to me. I am about to turn tribal.
