Interesting study saying that polarization in societies has risen since 2008 as people on average have more friends. I think this is true, as 10 years ago I had much more mildly held political opinions, and so did many of the friends I debate with here.

Why is the federal government so huge and powerful that it can do whatever it pleases without checks and balances anymore? The Far Left Is Calling For Your Murder

The far left is calling for the murder of millions of Americans who disagree with their politics.

Go read any of the top political posts on Reddit (use incognito, go to old.reddit.com, sort by top). Tens of thousands of upvotes, thousands of likes, and dozens of top posts all calling centrists and Republicans fascists.
And most of them clearly stating, “our grandparents fought fascists and we should too”.

Abuses of government power

Let’s make the assumption that everything the far left says about Republicans is true for argument’s sake. What can we do about it? Is it a problem purely limited to only Trump? Once he leaves, will we never have abuses again?
Biden, Bush, Clinton, and Obama all abused power in a variety of ways too. They were more conventional, but they also used outright racism (Biden), murder of US citizens abroad (Obama), and involved us in giant wars that ended up being a total waste (Bush).

Thoughts of the day

Too many of us are becoming algorithmically controlled people. I like to see Facebook and HN likes and comments. I saw an extreme example of a YouTuber kid who pranked his own wife on their wedding day with bad vows, and got her on OnlyFans. Pretty gross. Even good folks like FarmCraft101 on YouTube are clearly living their lives to create specific content to get the algorithm to pay attention.… read more “Thoughts of the day”
