Letter to my wife

The world humanity lived in for the last 100,00 years is radically different from the world of the last 5,000 years, which is radically different than the world of the last 200 years, which is radically different than the world of the last 10 years. Exponential, true exponential growth, in technology is swamping our poor monkey brains. It is very hard for us to grasp the scale and pace of changes around us. These changes bring enormous risks for humanity and our little family.

Our lives were a 9/10 in long Beach fun-wise. Our lives are now an 8/10 fun-wise. If we went extremely country, our lives would be at worst a 6/10, more likely higher. But what would our lives be if a member of our family died? 0/10?

Our kids are light years ahead of all other kids, and this will continue if we keep up the amazing education we are giving them. It would be a huge harm to our kids to put them in the nightmare prisons of public schools, or even into the stupid popularity contest of private school. I don’t want normal kids. Normal kids turn into depressed, unprepared, in debt adults who try to paper over their bad lives with sugar, alcohol, television, and drugs. I want our kids to see the world for what it truly is and know where the opportunities are and how to make the world work for them so they are happy and free.
