I think the essay is right and wrong. I think that people genuinely can only look at things from a positive or negative point of view, rarely neutral. I think there are lots of people and lots of times for lots of people where they’re happy and things are really good. I think there are lots of people who objectively go through very bad times and are very depressed. Each side is justified. There’s been times when I have been very justifiably depressed and angry. There’s also been times when I have been very justifiably happy and relaxed.
