I have gotten so tired of people constantly ragging on businesspeople and claiming that they will save the world through their volunteering, traveling, hippy living or other generally jobless activities. ‚ Bullshit. ‚ Volunteering is masturbation for the ego. ‚ I know hippies who care about the environment and only eat organic foods… only to drive several hours back and forth from home twice a week.… read more “Businessmen are the Best Men”

From the center of downtown Seattle it takes 12 minutes to reach my new home with no traffic. Up to 20 minutes with normal traffic during rush hour coming over I-90.
New York Times “Most Popular” Section Decomposing
My favorite little section in the NYTimes.com website used to be their little widget halfway down the page on the right side listing their ten “Most Popular” posts in each category. ‚ Recently though, the quality of the articles that are listed has vastly decreased. ‚ The section used to contain the most interesting or relevant news of the day, but now it is mostly ill-considered opinion pieces by Paul Krugman and others.… read more “New York Times “Most Popular” Section Decomposing”
Moved to Factoria Today
Plato, Nick and my grandpa were kind enough to help me move today in exchange for Dim Sum in the International District. I’m not sure what to think of Factoria at this point. I’ll give it a fair chance, but it is definitely suburbia. I’ve also started to feel restless lately… maybe I’ll sell everything and move to Tibet and worship monkeys or whatever they do there ;).
Is School Bullying Really That Bad?
A former bully victim asking such a question may seem silly, but I think the topic deserves analysis. ‚ Today’s schools have become a padded cocoon, intended to protect students from exposure to anything that can be potentially harmful. ‚ Most schools have zero-tolerance policies towards drugs, guns, bullying, and many other potentially harmful activities. ‚ Students caught engaging in anything remotely close are usually immediately expelled.… read more “Is School Bullying Really That Bad?”
TVI Coming Together
A long time ago, I came up with an algorithm that gives you your search reputation in an easy to understand metric much like your credit score. ‚ Basically it factors in the importance of each position in the search engines, the sentiment scoring of each webpage, and the market share of each search engine to give you a number between 0 and 500 that tells you how people view you online.… read more “TVI Coming Together”
Digital-Auto-Gauges Conversion Problem Solved
Only .2% of all people who came to my‚ digital-auto-gauges.com website were actually buying products. ‚ Industry standard conversion rates are between 3-6% depending on your niche. ‚ My checkout process has some wacky code that does not display correctly in Internet Explorer and potential customers have probably been bailing out by the boat load. ‚ I am completely redoing the entire checkout process now though.
Best Flag Football Offense
What is the best flag football offense? The best flag football offense will vary depending on your players and their strengths/weaknesses. However, my experience through several seasons of analyzing flag football offenses has shown me that the best share several common characteristics:
- Simplicity: Possibly the most important part of creating the‚ best flag football offense is keeping it simple enough that everyone on your team knows exactly what they are supposed to do.
King to Kutcher: “We Will Bury You”
Ashton Kutcher challenged CNN to a race to a million followers on twitter. Ashton Kutcher is at around 870,000 and CNN has a significant lead. Anyways, Larry King posted this funny video telling Ashton Kutcher he’s going down:
Here is the original video in which Ashton Kutcher promises to punk Ted Turner if he beats CNN to a million twitter followers:
Solving the Pirate Problem
Earlier I had written about the growing problem of piracy off the coast of Somalia. ‚ The pirates have continued to rapidly expand and are becoming better with their techniques. ‚ However, one story of an American ship captain caught by pirates brought much more attention to the issue recently.
The ship Maersk Alabama was captured by pirates, but the captain locked his crew in a hold and surrendered himself in exchange for his crew’s freedom.… read more “Solving the Pirate Problem”
